10 Out-of-this World Space podcasts

Following a number of recent releases of podcasts and this editor’s travels, at Spaceoneers we got thinking about space podcasts. Now with the Coronavirus Outbreak and many people working from home, here’s a chance to catch up with 10 of our suggested out-of-this world space podcasts.

1. Satellite Stories (SES Satellites)

Satellite Stories host Kristina Smith-Meyer discusses what matters most to SES’ customers and hears how the services SES provide really make a difference.

2. Supermassive Podcast (Royal Astronomical Society)

The Royal Astronomical Society recently launched its Supermassive Podcast. Each month Izzie Clarke and Dr Becky Smethurst take you through the universe with the latest research, history from the society’s archives and astronomy you can do from your own home.

3. Space Angels Podcast

Chad Anderson, CEO of Space Angels, interviews industry leaders in commercial aerospace about their projects, ambitions and dreams.

4. Day-to-Day Podcast (EUMETSAT)

Last month EUMETSAT launched a new podcast series about Copernicus earth observation data. Find out how these data benefit our day-to-day lives as host Dr Mark Higgins explores the ways in which satellite data is helping us to better understand the Earth and its environment.

5. Jodcast

Jodcast is a long-established bimonthly podcast created by astronomers at Jodrell Bank Center for Astrophysics, University of Manchester. It includes the latest news in astronomy, what you can see in the night sky, interviews with astronomers and more

6. 13 Minutes to the Moon

After a highly successful first season, ’13 Minutes to the Moon’ returns for a second season with Dr Kevin Fong sharing epic stories of NASA’s missions to the Moon. Listen now on BBC Sounds.

7. BETTER SATELLITE WORLD

Better Satellite World episodes feature conversations with people whose work in space & satellite make a stronger economy, a better society and a more sustainable planet. They demonstrate why space technology is indispensable to modern life.

8. Planetary Radio

Each week, Planetary Radio’s Mat Kaplan visits with a scientist, engineer, project manager, astronaut, advocate or writer who provides a unique and exciting perspective on the exploration of our solar system and beyond.

9. Space Boffins

Space Boffins is an award-winning podcast covering space science in the UK, Europe & beyond. Hosted on the Naked Scientists website.

10. Startalk Radio

StarTalk is a podcast on space, science, and popular culture hosted by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson, with various comic and celebrity co-hosts and frequent guests from the worlds of science and entertainment.
