BUILDING THE FUTURE OF AEROSPACE THROUGH INNOVATION
The foundation of the Global Aerospace Summit is the extensive programme of thought leadership and strategic vision driven by over 150 industry decision makers who commit to speaking at the Summit. As the aerospace industry goes through rapid changes the global audience of delegates gathered collectively as a sector, transferring knowledge and sharing experiences. The Summit answered critical questions around how new technologies are transforming these aerospace, defence, aviation and space industries. In 2018 the Summit was led by two plenary keynote mornings, each featuring a high profile Ministerial Address outlining the progress of the UAE in aerospace and the critical partnerships and technology being put in place to make ambitious goals reality.
H.E. Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Bowardi, Minister of State for Defence Affairs opened the Summit proceedings with a Ministerial Address, and on the Space Day H.E. Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al-Falasi, Minister of State for Higher Education and Advanced Skills and Chairman of the UAE Space Agency, shared how the UAE is becoming a centre of excellence for space communications, remote sensing and exploration. The Summit featured four streams dedicated to the core component sectors of the audience. C-level panel discussions focused on the most important challenges facing aviation, defence, space and technology development. Speakers explored how new technologies will revolutionise the sector and how the aerospace, space and defence industries serve as catalysts for global security, international cooperation, and economic growth.
The main streams were backed by an extensive programme of workshops, roundtables and briefing sessions on topics as diverse as the impact of blockchain on aviation manufacturing and supply chain, space law and high altitude persistent aircraft.
The third day of the Summit featured the next generation of young leaders, scientists and engineers exploring what it takes to build careers in space and aerospace. They built relationships with and learned from organisations from across the UAE and the wider world who are looking for the brightest and best STEM students and graduates to drive the future of their aerospace, space and satellite businesses.
