REACTION ENGINES BEGINS CONSTRUCTION OF UK ROCKET ENGINE TEST FACILITY

Reaction Engines Ltd. this month began construction of a new engine test facility where it plans to undertake the first ground based demonstration of its revolutionary SABRE™ air-breathing rocket engine.

The test facility at Westcott, Buckinghamshire, UK will enable Reaction Engines to test critical subsystems along with the testing of a SABRE engine core, which will commence in 2020.

ROCKET LAB SUCCESSFULLY MAKES IT TO SPACE

Rocket Lab broke new ground on 25th May when its Electron rocket reached space at 16:23 NZST. Read about it on their website here and watch the launch below.

A “GAS STATION IN SPACE” COULD ALLOW US TO REACH OTHER WORLDS

Students who recently participated in the Caltech Space Challenge share their ideas on how the Moon could be mined for fuel. This would help support missions into deep space by lowering the cost and increasing the frequency of trips.

NASA IS FAST-TRACKING PLANS TO EXPLORE A METAL ASTEROID WORTH $10,000 QUADRILLION

NASA’s mission to visit the asteroid 16 Psyched has been fast-tracked and should happen in 2026. The agency will look at but not extract metals from the $10,000 quadrillion asteroid, which is worth more than the global economy.
